CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Two days before the election day, a 52-year-old businessman running for barangay kagawad was arrested by authorities for alleged vote-buying activity in Bulacan on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 28).
The suspect was apprehended in Barangay Bagong Barrio, Pandi, Bulacan, and seized from his possession were cash amounting to P35,840.00 in different denominations, DSWD General Intake Sheets, and Sample Ballots.
The suspect is temporarily under the custody of Pandi police station for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges.
PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. emphasized the commitment of the police to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming elections. He reminded the public that vote-buying is an election offense, punishable by one to six years of imprisonment.
