CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. announced that between April 4 and 11, six former and two active members of communist terrorist groups (CTGs) in Central Luzon surrendered to authorities and pledged allegiance to the government. This development occurred amidst ongoing efforts of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC ).
The individuals were identified as follows: “Ka Jomar,” a former Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda (SYP) member under the Josefino Corpuz Command, who turned in a homemade unserviceable .38 caliber revolver with live ammunition; “Ka Ivy,” a former S4 of Iskwad Primera Platoon Sentral of Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB), who surrendered ammunition and explosive materials.
A former member of Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda Bataan-Zambales known as “Ka Jayjay,” who handed over firearms and explosives; “Ka Orna,” a former member of Bayan Muna (UGMO) who possessed explosive materials; “Ka Berting,” a former CTG member under KLG TarZam, who relinquished firearms and subversive documents.
“Ka Lenlen,” a former member of Pambansang Katipunan ng Magsasaka (PKM); “Ka Gabriela,” a member of Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan (RHB) who surrendered an improvised submachine gun; and “Ka Usting,” a member of Aguman Dareng Maglalautang Capampangan (AMC).
Hidalgo urged the remaining members of these groups to lay down their arms and take advantage of the government’s E-CLIP benefits.
“The Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines continue to encourage all remaining supporters of the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army to return to the government fold and unite for a terrorism-free nation,” he emphasized. (UnliNews Online)
