PH Army urges public to join reserve force

TARLAC CITY — The 7th Infantry Division (7ID) urged the public to become part of the Citizen Armed Force and provide support to troops, especially during crises or emergencies.

During the 12th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency, 7ID Commander Major General Andrew Costelo cited their various programs to encourage more individuals to become reservists.

“We are pursuing the reserve force development, particularly in Central Luzon. We just concluded our Reservist Forum wherein we reiterated that volunteerism is heroism. Right now, we have a massive reserve force development,” he stated.

The official highlighted that there are approximately 22,000 ready reserves in Central Luzon, and 7ID is now in the process of accounting other standby ready reserves.

On another note, Costelo said that Fort Magsaysay is open for Reserved Officers Training Corps students to spur their interest in joining the Army Reserve Force, and dedicating their service and patriotism to the nation.

He added that the media, elected officials, professionals, youth and other sectors are welcome to serve the country as reservists.

“It is high time to unite in serving the Bagong Pilipinas. With your help, we can ignite and strengthen the love for the Philippines,” he noted.

The reservist training includes regular drills and training exercises, weapon handling, emergency response, first aid, and tactical skills to ensure their readiness in responding to any situation from natural disasters to national emergencies.

Military Reservists, who voluntarily committed their service, have the opportunity to reinforce the regular armed forces while holding full-time civilian jobs.

For more information, interested applicants may inquire to the nearest Regional Community Defense Group or Community Defense Center, or visit the Reserve Command, Philippine Army Facebook page.
