CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Regional Office III participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for the 3rd Quarter of 2024 on Thursday (Sept. 26) to enhance employee preparedness for earthquake emergencies.
This proactive initiative underscores the agency’s commitment to safety and disaster readiness as employees practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure during the drill to enhance their self-protection skills, with Maintenance Division Chief Marisa Miguel emphasizing the need to hone essential techniques and understand real-life reactions.
Designated team leaders provided clear evacuation procedures and established an Emergency Operations Center for first aid coordination, while following the drill, employees quickly gathered at the designated evacuation area, demonstrating their readiness for real emergencies and the effectiveness of the training.
This initiative, organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), supports efforts to prepare government agencies for potential seismic events. (UnliNews Online)
